Spotlight Sunday - Spencer Hamlin

Happy Sunday! We are very excited to feature one of our favorite collaborators, Spencer Hamlin. You can see Spencer this spring as Boppi Meneely and covering John Meneely in Greater Middletown Chorale’s production of Letter from Italy, 1944 in May, and singing Ernesto in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale with Wendy Taucher Dance Opera Theater on Martha’s Vineyard in August. Spencer Hamlin has proven himself a gifted and versatile young tenor, persuasive in a wide variety of different roles. After his Summer 2015 participation in Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance series, Opera News called Hamlin’s portrayal of Tonio in Donizetti’s La fille du régiment “the perfect picture of a Tyrolean peasant,”

Spotlight Sunday - Jessica Rudman

It is time for another Spotlight Sunday! Today's spotlight is on a composer who was featured in the latest New in November, Jessica Rudman! Jessica Rudman is a Connecticut-based composer and teacher whose music unifies extended techniques with clear melodic development and narrative structures to create a unique and personal emotional expression. Her works have been performed by groups such as the International Contemporary Ensemble, the Riot Ensemble, the Cadillac Moon Ensemble, the Omaha Symphony's Chamber Orchestra, the Yakima Symphony Orchestra, and the Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra. Hope you are keeping warm this wintry weekend! We are very excited to feature Michelle Hendrick this week. Michelle was the founding Artistic Director of Hartford Opera Theater. This season her work has been featured on the stage at UCONN. Her production of HMS Pinafore recently closed and she will be opening a new production of Le nozze di Figaro - March 24 & 26 also at UCONN. Spotlight Sunday - Kelly Hill

Happy Sunday, opera fans! We are pleased to introduce you to this Sunday's spotlight artist, Kelly Hill! Kelly was Elizabeth Proctor in last year's performance of The Crucible and was nominated for a Broadway World Connecticut Award for Best Actress in a Musical Production. Here is what Kelly is up to this season. Kelly Hill, mezzo-soprano, graduated with a Master’s Degree and Artist Diploma from the Yale School of Music as a student of Doris Yarick-Cross. This summer, Kelly returned to the Opera Theater of Connecticut as Carmen in their 30th anniversary production.
