Spotlight Sunday - Jennifer Sgroe

January 10, 2017

Hello everyone! We hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Today, we launch our newest social media feature -- HOT Spotlight Sunday!

Every Sunday, we will feature a current or past HOT artist. From composers to directors, scenic designers to orchestra members and of course, singers, we want to feature you!

Have you worked with HOT in the past? Do you have an upcoming project you would like us to promote? Please contact us at administration@hartfordoperatheater.com if you would like to be featured.

Our first artist of the week is Jennifer Sgroe!

Soprano Jennifer Sgroe made her HOT debut in "Trigger" by Jessica Rudman during our 2016 New in November Festival. An active recitalist, Jennifer's upcoming engagements include performances of her original recital "To The Sea" with pianist Beverly Soll. The program is comprised of works by American composers who were inspired by the sea and performances will be held at Salem State University on January 30th and at the St. Botolph Club in Boston, Massachusetts on February 6th. Future dates in 2017 are forthcoming. She will also present a Faculty Recital at New England Conservatory in the spring of 2017, also with pianist, Beverly Soll. On April 8th, Jennifer makes her Jordan Hall debut in recital with The Shakespeare Concerts in a recital for voices, harp and horn with works by Brahms, Schumann and premieres of new works by Joseph Summer and Ben Pesetsky. She will give a repeat performance of this program at UMass Amherst on April 9th. On June 11th, she joins her Boston area colleagues for a retrospective recital honoring the Boston Singer’s Resource Recital Series.

Jennifer began her musical career in dance and musical theater before transitioning to opera. Originally from New York, she resides in historic Salem, MA with her husband Matt and serves on the Voice Faculty for NEC’s Preparatory & School of Continuing Education programs and is Vocal Program Coordinator & Assistant Professor of Theatre at Dean College.
