STAFF BIOGRAPHIES
MICHELLE MURRAY-FIERTEK, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - Connecticut lyric soprano and educator Michelle Murray Fiertek possesses a wide ranging repertoire for the concert stage. Equally at home with the intimacy of art song and the grandeur of opera, her dramatically powerful approach to the performance of vocal music has earned her both critical and popular acclaim. Her singing has been described as “Exemplary” (BBC Music Magazine), “First-rate. Engaging and authentic” (New York Concert Review), and “Alive and full-blooded” (Arizona Republic).
Michelle has been a faculty and guest recital artist at venues including California State University, San Bernardino; Arizona State University; California State University, Long Beach; California Baptist University; Georgia Southern University; and The Hartt School, University of Hartford. She has also been featured throughout the United States as a soloist in many large-scale choral works, including Fauré’s Requiem, Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Mass in C Minor, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Bach's B Minor Mass and Handel’s Dettingen Te Deum and Messiah. Michelle currently resides in CT, where she performs and teaches.

LISABETH MILLER, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR - Lisabeth Miller has been the Artistic Director of Hartford Opera Theater since 2012 and is exceedingly proud to be leading HOT’s effort to keep high quality, accessible, affordable, live opera in Hartford. Miller is sought after for her musically sensitive and dramatically compelling performances on both the opera and concert stages. In recent seasons, she has performed with Opera Theater of Connecticut, Hillhouse Opera, The Nutmeg Symphony, CONCORA, University of Connecticut Opera Theater and Hartford Opera Theater. An enthusiastic performer of new music, Miller has been featured in Hartford Opera Theater’s “New in November” festivals from 2010-2012 in short operas by Chen Zhangyi, Steven Serpa and Daniel Morel. She has also had the privilege of singing pieces written specifically for her by Nolan Stolz, Nathan Davis and Edward Knoeckel. Lisabeth Miller is pursuing a DMA in voice performance at the University of CT, studying with renowned pedagogue Dr. Constance Rock, and Willie Anthony Waters. She also holds a master of music degree from the Hartt School of Music, as well as a bachelor of arts degree in music from Brandeis University.
