"The Tender Land", premiered in 1954 and tells the story of Laurie, a young girl, who finds herself on the cusp of adulthood as she anticipates her high school graduation. She struggles with the decision of whether to remain in her small town or leave to strike out on her own and discover what the world has to offer. The Tender Land also deals with the concept of the "outsider" as drifters, Martin and Top are falsely accused of a rape by the community.

Fear of individuals who are classified as "others" is a timeless story that still resonates in our current cultural climate. The concept for this production explores the idea of communication and how the struggle to be heard can affect a family. The production will include American Sign Language and a deaf actress in the role of Beth Moss.

Friday, June 2 will feature ASL interpretation for members of the deaf community.

Sunday, June 4 there will be a touch tour 1 hour prior to curtain for patrons who are blind or visually impaired. There will also be audio describe available at this performance courtesy of the Yale School of Drama.
